Patchogue, NY| Second-year head coach Alex Mendolia and the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team announced the release of the program's 2017 regular season schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles, who finished fifth in the Skyline Conference standings last season before being eliminated by Farmingdale State in the first round of the conference championship, are set to open play at home vs. Brooklyn College on Saturday, September 2.
The season's opener kicks-off a four-game home stand to begin the year which features games vs. William Paterson and Kean University in the SJC Invitational Tournament on September 9 and 10.
The following weekend SJC opens conference play on the road at Yeshiva with away Skyline match-ups at Maritime (9/23), Mt. St. Vincent (9/27) and Merchant Marine (9/30) coming over the following two weeks.
SJC returns home for a Skyline tilt with local rival Old Westbury on Tuesday, October 3 and later wraps up the regular season under the lights with a 7:00 pm match vs. Farmingdale on Wednesday, October 25.
Six teams will qualify for the Skyline Conference Championship in 2017 with the first round of matches—featuring #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5—being played on Saturday, October 28. The top two seeds open play in the tournament in the semifinal round vs. the winners of the two first round games on Wednesday, November 1, and the conference finals are slated for Saturday, November 4. All games are played on the campuses of the higher seed.
